Song: Weakness Artist: McRad
“I must have heard this song for the first time in the late nineties, when I was like 16 or 17, or somewhere around that age, when I was into trails. It was the first song on SCUM 1201 (Watch that here) and every time I listen to this it takes me back to that era. Weakness was one of the tracks on McRad’s album ‘Absence Of Sanity’ which was first released in 1983 – The year I was born! McRad founder Chuck Treece was actually a professional skateboarder for Santa Cruz, Airwalk and Powell Peralta, and McRad tracks were used in a few Powell Peralta videos, namely Propaganda, Ban This and Public Domain. A lot of McRad tracks are kind of reminiscent of Bad Brains, one of my other favourites. Bands like this were pretty much my introduction to punk music, and their use in classic BMX and skateboarding videos when I was growing up was certainly hugely influential in what I’m into nowadays.“
Cornwall based BMX shop Dead Sailor BMX decided to take a holiday to Barcelona for some fun in the sun, and of course some BMX action at some classic spots. Looks like the crew had a blast out there, check it out…
This video for Rudimental’s ‘Waiting All Night’ is the true story of rider & actor Kurt Yaeger who became an amputee after an accident in 2006. You’ll probably recognise a few of the characters featuring in this, (including Jimmy LeVan & Ryan Metro) because they’re all riders and friends of Kurt, who also plays himself in the video. If you head over to the YouTube page, there’s a list of everyone involved and a load of links to check out.
